LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE

I’m sharing Lymphatic Drainage Massage and how it can aid inflammation and help in body sculpting. 

Such as revealing abs that could be hidden.

What is lymphatic drainage massage, and do you need one?

If you saw my mommy makeover surgery series, you saw I received a lymphatic drainage massage post-surgery.

Receiving lymphatic massages following body surgery is common in Central and South America; however, it is not currently widespread in the US.

I think that is changing as locations like Lymphologie open, making this delicate massage technique available to more people.

What are the benefits of Lymphatic Massage?

Our lymphatic system is key to our body’s immune defenses. 

Lymphatic fluid flows through lymph vessels, which connect lymph nodes. White blood cells trap and destroy harmful particles, such as bacteria, as lymph fluid passes through lymph nodes.

Similar to blood in the circulatory system, lymphatic fluid is always moving. If it stops, fluid build-up can cause swelling, often in the arms or legs. 

Exercise is crucial to avoid lymph fluid build-up, which is why walking is essential following surgery.

Combine walking with lymphatic drainage to encourage further movement and clearing of fluid.

If you are not post-surgery but feel inflamed, schedule a lymphatic drainage massage and start walking. It’s amazing what walking and light touch can do and how much better you will feel.

Is lymphatic drainage massage only beneficial post-surgery?

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be recovering from a body surgery to reap the benefits of a lymphatic massage. This therapeutic technique is beneficial for everyone.

One year after my mommy makeover surgery, I received a second lymphatic massage from Carolina, the owner of Lymphologie, located in Folsom, California.

It’s true that following major surgery, like a mommy makeover, your body will swell, which is why many set up lymphatic drainage massages post-surgery to help drain inflammation.

The basic concept of a lymphatic massage is to open the lymph nodes and move trapped fluid so that the body can remove it.

Which Lymphatic Drainage Massage did I receive?

At Lymphologie, I received the Full Body and Face Brazillian Lymphatic Drainage treatment.

As you can see, this is a very relaxing and gentle experience that lasts for 70 minutes.

FIRST STEP:

Like many massages, it begins with deep breathing. Deep breathing acts like a pump, helping move fluid through the vessels and lymph nodes.

SECOND STEP:

Prepare the front of the neck by stretching from the earlobe to the shoulders.

THIRD STEP:

Prepare the back of the neck by moving hands from the base of the hairline down towards the spine.

FOURTH STEP:

Prepare the lymph nodes under the arms to help them accept lymph fluid from other areas of the body.

FIFTH STEP:

Prepare the back of the knees by gently pressing the hands into the back of the knee and rolling them upward.

After the lymph nodes have been prepared, the massage technique uses light pressure to gently move fluid toward the nearest lymph node for removal.

I loved the stomach massage. This is where many see a huge before and after difference in sculpting the body if they have fluid buildup in the abdomen.

My lymphatic drainage massage included a beautiful face-sculpting massage, which was soothing and will put you into a relaxing trance.

The overall experience is dreamy, and I’m so glad I gave lymphatic drainage massage another chance.

Why am I in this top?

I decided I needed more motivation to build core strength. It’s been 14 months since the mommy makeover surgery, and the lower portion of my core remains an activation challenge.

STARTING April 18, 2024

INSPIRATION

To motivate myself, I decided to set a goal for the next 30 days to walk 3 miles each day and use a core strengthening program I bought last night on Instagram.

This will be added to my three hot yoga classes and three gym lifting days.

I put it in my calendar to see if I could get it all in. This challenge scares me, and the fact that I’m sharing it makes it even more terrifying.

With this in mind, I will stay accountable week to week by showing my midsection in future videos to help me document any changes.

Carolina told me I didn’t have any inflammation in my core, which is great because anything I do build in the next 30 days should be noticeable.

We will see, and yes, I’m afraid of failing. I plan to document it for a future video and see what happens.

15 months post tummy tuck scar ✔️

Melanotan 2 did not dark my TT scar. I believe only dark scars will darken since they have melanin in them.

My TT scar lacks melanin which is why it’s white. Using this peptide has increased the melanin where I have melanin.

Moles have darkened but not out of sync with overall skin tone darkening.

I have noticed some melasma on my face creeping in, which is a known consequence of increasing melanin production.

If you’ve ever wondered who are these people online, who document their lives hour by hour…how did that become a business…don’t they get embarrassed…is it hard posting daily…how do they stay consistent…

I think about these things too!!!

There is no one telling me what to do…what to post…what to create…etc…
This might seem liberating, and it can be…however carte blanche isn’t always as romantic as one might think.

Staying motivated daily is what any business requires, especially an online independent one.

The “consistency skill set” I’ve earned from being online aids me in other goals I set for myself. It comes down to self-discipline and the continued belief in yourself that you can do hard things.

When you accomplish one thing, that personal success should fuel you toward your next accomplishment. I truly believe it’s the small, consistent steps, the micro-decisions you make hourly, that bring you success.

It will never be one thing. Stop thinking that way! 

In fact, be elated that it’s not simply one thing since we make numerous mistakes daily. Instead of self-loathing, keep an optimistic mindset that you will never give up on yourself. 😘

Remember, your dreams have a purpose; giving them value is up to you. Happy Memorial Day 😘

Hot yoga on Saturdays can inspire anxiety in me…

I was explaining to my friends that Saturday, hot yoga classes always give me arrival anxiety…

Mentally I need yo prepare because I know they will be packed…mat to mat.

As I enter, the heat cloud hits me in the face from a previous class and the walls are already dripping with perspiration 😂🙈

I need to arrive at least 30 minutes before class to start acclimating to the heat and secure a spot where I feel comfortable.

My 6am week day classes are very different from Saturday mid morning classes.

During the week, 6am isn’t  as packed, so the class initially isn’t as hot. By the end of class the heat will be fully optimized however, initially, it’s not as intense as a Saturday class. 

With this in mind, during the week, later mid morning classes are actually as intense as the Saturday classes but I rarely go to weekday mid morning.

Those who attend 10am everyday are beasts!!!

Today, was a beautiful hot class. Thank you @drewusantos for a great flow…and you gave enough time for “dancing Sheba” thank you 🙏🏻😂

I like arriving to class early and giving myself time to acclimate and stretch it out.

If you get anxiety arrive early and settle in. Taking this extra step makes my flow even better because I don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Currently I’m using MELANOTAN 2, in order to build a better skin sun protection. This peptide has increased my melanocytes melanin production.

Quick Fact:
Did you know that we all have the same amount of melanocytes in our skin. I’m super fair and apparently I have the same number of melanocytes as someone from African decent. The key difference; my melanocytes don’t produce as much melanin as someone who has olive or black skin tones.

MELANOTAN 2 increases the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone aka MSH

“In our skin, we have pigment cells and we have hormones that regulate the activity of those pigment cells. So what Melanotan-Il does is mimic the action of those hormones and upregulate the activity of our pigment cells.” 

MELANOTAN 2 increases MSH and this signals to our melanocytes to make more melanin. This peptide that I inject daily as I load is helping me protect my skin from the sun by coating my cells in melanin. 

My body can produce melanin as evident by my current color. However, my MSH rarely activates so little melanin is produced. With the MELANOTAN 2 peptide my skin is finally acclimating to the sun.

I have a sun allergy and this is helping me avoid having the polymorphous rash eruption. Basically my skin breaks into red itchy welts and water blisters. It’s extremely painful, itchy and bleeds. 

My skin can now acclimate to the sun versus needing steroids to go out by the pool or beach.
