But give me two weeks—because I’m back on Melanotan 2, also known as MT2 or the Barbie drug, and we’re about to glow up for summer!

I created these Melanotan videos in 2024 when I first used MT2.

If you caught my Melanotan video series last year, you might remember I was dealing with a sun allergy called Polymorphous Light Eruption—basically, I would break out in painful, itchy blisters just from being in the sun.

It was miserable.

But MT2? It literally changed my summer. Not only did it give me a golden tan I’d never seen on myself before—it actually helped prevent those horrible flare-ups.

This Year’s Plan – Protocol Overview

This is my 10mg vial of Melanotan 2, and today I’m reconstituting it with 2ml of Bacteriostatic Water.

I’ll draw up 40 units and inject it subcutaneously.

How I Use It – Tanning Process

First sun exposure in 2025

30 Days later

I’ll be injecting daily during my loading phase, followed by a little sun exposure—just enough to activate the peptide and help my body start producing melanin.

Once I reach my desired tan and protection level, I’ll drop down to once or twice a week for maintenance.

Desired color achieved with MT2 and now I will inject once per week this summer.

Now, I’ve seen people online worry that MT2 might permanently darken your skin.

As you can see—my skin totally returned to its original tone last year. I had no lasting discoloration and no major side effects.

MT2 Side Effects – Real Talk

Let’s talk side effects—because MT2 can come with some:

• Nausea
• Increased libido
• Spontaneous erections
• Reduced appetite
• Darkening of freckles, moles, and areas with melasma

Last year, I didn’t notice any nausea or hunger suppression, but I was also using Semaglutide, which already blunts appetite. I’m not on it this year, so I’ll get a clearer read.

Same goes for the libido stuff—last year I had a testosterone pellet, which can spike libido. I’m off that too, so we’ll see if MT2 on its own does anything.

Melasma Warning

The only thing I did notice last year was some melasma darkening on my cheeks. I stayed super consistent with sunscreen, hats, and antioxidants, which helped, but it still peeked through. We’ll track that again this year.

So—here we go again. It’s April 15th, 2025, and I’m about to do my first injection of the season, then run outside and soak up some of this amazing Northern California sunshine. 🌞

t’s actually May 15, 2025, so it’s been a month since I started MT2. Some weather issues prevented me from going out daily, but even with not being able to lay out as much as I had planned, I still picked up a good amount of color.

Side Effects I noticed

I noticed a strong nauseating effect from my initial 40-unit dose, so I dropped down to 20 units. A few days later, I dropped to 10 units, and at 10 units, I didn’t notice the nausea, but I could still get the tanning benefits.

On the 40-unit dose, I certainly noticed the libido sensation people talk about. At 20, I still saw some, but at 10 units, I don’t experience that side effect either.

I also didn’t notice melasma building on my face. I use an SPF 50 daily, and when I go out, I make sure my face is covered with a towel. I regularly wear hats and big sunglasses to protect my face.

I did notice the libido increase, especially on the 40 units, some at the 20 units, and no extra libido at 10 units.

I did not follow the two-week loading phase. I tried 40 units once, then 20 units twice, until I settled at 10 units. I was only in the sun three times each week for 20 minutes.

MT2 is very forgiving, so you can use it when you need a boost, and the color lasts. I will probably use 10 units of MT2 once per week this summer to maintain my color and prevent my polymorphous light eruption allergy from surfacing.

Side note: Last year, I tried a tanning bed once on MT2, and that really activated the melanin; however, it was too fast for my skin, and it caused a little allergy to the surface. Fortunately, it disappeared in a single day, and I have not seen it return.

Scar Check

Many of you know about the tummy tuck I had in 2023, and it’s still doing great. I can barely see the fine white scar any longer. My scar does not darken from using melanotan 2 because my scar lacks melanin. If you have scars that are dark, they could get darker from using MT2. This hasn’t been my personal experience, but it is something to keep in mind.
