It’s been one year since Dr. Rice, my local facial plastic surgeon, placed four vials of Sculptra in my face.
I’m sharing my two sessions of Sculptra placement (two vials during each session), the cost of Sculptra, and if I think Sculptra is worth it.
Disclaimer Time
And here is the weekly ab check-in to keep me honest.
First, what is Sculptra?
Sculptra is made from Poly-L-lactic acid aka., PLLA.
This is a biodegradable material that induces your own collagen to grow.
Our faces look older as we lose volume. Volume in our faces is made up of collagen and fat pads.
Collagen production begins to decrease at age 20; by age 40, we have 25% less collagen in our faces.
Coupled with weight gain and weight loss, fat pads can deplete, and our faces can become hollow in our temples under our eyes and below the cheekbone.
In this previous video, I explained Sculptra in depth and how it performs to add lost volume.
Additionally, I shared a possible Sculptra Dupe that I’m currently testing, so check that video out.
In my opinion, the biggest drawback to Sculptra is its cost.
Galderma, who makes Sculptra, suggests you need one vial for every decade of life.
So, if you are 40 years old, you may need four vials, which I received over the course of two sessions.
I am one year post four vials of Sculptra. Was it worth it?
You probably think your face looks more drawn and thin today than last year.
Very True!!!
If you watched my semaglutide video, you understand that I compromised a lot of volume in my face while I lost weight using that peptide.
It was more effective than I ever imagined, and unfortunately, when you lose weight, it can happen everywhere, including your face.
That’s why the term “Ozempic Face” now exists.
If I hadn’t lost 15 lbs, my face would be fuller, and the impact of the Sculptra would be evident.
Sculptra is an incredible option and much better than filler. However, it remains very costly, and if you lose weight, you might compromise your investment in Sculptra.
With that said, look at this comparison. Even at a lower weight, you can see Sculptra’s impact.
Because of the cost of Sculptra and my desire to find more affordable options. I looked into other PLLA products that created bio-stimulation.
Two weeks ago, I used Mayster PLLA at home. In this Sculptra Dupe video, I discussed how they compare.
I will do a few rounds of the Mayster PLLA and see what happens, and as always I’ll check in and let you know what I think.
I’ll see you on the next video.
SCULPTRA 1 Year Post
Before first Sculptra Placement
AFTER 1st Sculptra Placement of two vials, a bit swollen
Sculptra began with HIV patients whose faces lost volume due to HIV drug treatments.
The band aid was due to a scar Dr Rice treated with the CO2 Laser. Should I create this video when Dr. Rice cut out a lump I had in my face?
Cannula
Tear Trough PLLA placement, finger on orbital rim
THE 5 5 5 RULE
What should I do after treatment? Massage the treated area to evenly distribute Sculptra. A good rule of thumb is 5-5-5: Massage the injected area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days in a row.

I knew I wanted to be a mother one day…not because I love caring for babies…ask my sister Kristi, she can attest I’m not a natural caregiver to littles.
Even though I knew having children and caring for babies would not be my strength…I still wanted this experience.
Motherhood stretches me…it refines me…and motherhood helps me relate further to others.
I continue to view life as experiences that teach me. And motherhood is the biggest teacher of my life. This teacher can be exhausting, thrilling, hilarious, destructive, frustrating, and unconditionally loving.
I’m grateful for the richness motherhood brings to my life, not because it’s easy. In fact, as I move out of the young kid phase and my boys can judge and criticize me it’s a while new life experience.
No longer am I tying shoe laces, buckling four car seats, and trying to get them pool safe.
Now they are getting drivers licenses, they grill meat, and they cut lawn better than anyone.
As I watch my boys develop into men, I know this is greatest thing I’ve ever done not because I’m a great mother but rather these boys have refined me into a better person.
I no longer think motherhood is solely for children…because it continues to improve me and I find this to be the hidden gift of motherhood.

As you know…I don’t fear monger. This story from an unlicensed med spa in New Mexico is the first CDC case of HIV being transferred by aesthetics.
This doesn’t mean you have a higher risk of HIV contamination if you get a vampire facial. Unfortunately, this clinic was not practicing sterile practices. Whenever the skin barrier is being compromised a sterile environment and new needles are required. Apparently, this med spa was reusing needles which is again INSANE!
This video shares my PRP “Vampire Facial” experience, the benefits of PRP, and what to expect/watch for.
