BEFORE AND AFTER CARE
Care before and after a mommy makeover is important for a number of reasons. Pre-care is important to ensure that the patient is healthy and ready for the procedure and to reduce the risk of complications. Post-care is important to ensure that you are healing properly and that the results of the procedure are maintained. Proper care before and after a mommy makeover can help to reduce the risk of infection, reduce the risk of scarring, and ensure that you can be up and on your feet much sooner. Not everyone is the same, however, all of these things have helped me. Blog Post that is more detailed On Prep:
NATURAL SKIN PULLING AND HEALING
The skin naturally pulling on incisions of a tummy tuck is a normal part of the healing process. As the incisions heal, the skin contracts and pulls the edges of the incision together. This helps to reduce the appearance of the scar and helps to ensure that the incision heals properly. The pulling sensation is a sign that the incision is healing properly and should not be a cause for concern.
INCISIONS / SCAR
A tummy tuck incision scar is typically wide because it needs to be long enough to allow the surgeon to remove excess skin and fat, and tighten the abdominal muscles. The incision is usually placed low on the abdomen so that it can be easily hidden by clothing. The scar may also be wider than other incisions because the surgeon needs to be able to access the entire abdominal area. Dog ear is a term used to describe the excess skin that can remain after a tummy tuck incision. This excess skin is typically removed by making a small incision at the end of the incision line to remove the excess skin and fat. The scar will become less noticeable as the area heals and the skin regenerates. However, it is important to follow your doctor’s instructions for aftercare to ensure the best possible outcome. I have implemented new tapes as I am 20 days out and will continue to wear my compression garments over them.
BREAST LIFT INCISIONS /SCARS
Your breast lift scars will fade and heal over time. The healing process can take up to a year or more, depending on the type of procedure you had and your body’s individual healing process. As I have said before everyone will heal differently. However no matter what it is important to follow your surgeon’s instructions for post-operative care, including keeping the area clean and dry, avoiding direct sunlight, and using scar creams or ointments as recommended. Additionally, you may want to consider using silicone sheets or strips or other tapes as I have to help reduce the appearance of these scars. I am using the EMBRACE Scar Patches to help my scars lay down flat. LINK: Embrace Active Scar Defense for New Scars, FDA-Cleared Silicone Scar Sheets

COMPRESSION GARMENTS
Compression garments are important after lipo because they help reduce swelling, provide support to the treated area, and help the skin conform to its new contours. Compression garments also help reduce the risk of fluid accumulation, which can lead to infection and other complications. Additionally, compression garments help reduce the appearance of bruising and help the skin heal faster. There is no excuse for not wearing them even though they may feel very uncomfortable in the first few days. If you do not wear compression garments after liposuction, you may experience increased swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Compression garments help to reduce swelling, support the skin, and help the skin to conform to its new contours. They also help to reduce the risk of infection and help the skin to heal faster. Faja compression garments are designed to provide targeted compression to specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, and butt.
