Semaglutide Hair Loss: My 1-Year Scalp Treatment Results

A few years ago, after losing weight with semaglutide, I experienced one of the most intense hair sheds of my life. I estimated that I lost nearly half of my hair. By the time the shedding stopped, I was determined to document what came next instead of relying on memory.

I compare the formulas, preparation, treatment experience, value, and the visible checkpoints I recorded along the way.

Personal experience—not medical instruction

This is my personal documentary record, not a controlled trial or a universal hair-loss protocol. I used these products at different points in an overlapping routine that also included a high-frequency wand and an LED hair-growth helmet, while my natural recovery from the earlier shed was already underway. Scalp microneedling and injections can cause pain, redness, bleeding, infection, allergic reactions, pigment changes, scarring, tissue injury, and other complications.

How Semaglutide Hair Loss Started This Journey

I loved what semaglutide did for my weight control, but during a period of rapid weight loss and low caloric intake I experienced a massive shed. I believed the rapid change, lower intake, and metabolic stress during that period contributed to what I was seeing. Hair loss can have many causes, however, and a qualified healthcare professional can evaluate sudden or persistent shedding.

I first showed the shedding, then returned nine months later with an update. Even after my hair began to recover, I kept documenting my scalp, hairline, temples, part, and crown because I wanted a more complete record of what changed over time.

My One-Year Scalp Treatment Timeline

I have five confirmed Hanheal Hair Fill sessions between August 2025 and January 2026. My HairLuma sessions followed in 2026, including the matched April 15 and August 12 checkpoints shown in my recent HairLuma video.

Hanheal has the longest confirmed treatment history in my diary. HairLuma has the clearest matched visual checkpoint because I filmed comparable footage in April and August. Those are two different kinds of evidence, and neither proves that one formula caused more hair growth than the other.

HairLuma vs. Hanheal Hair Fill: What Is Different?

Preparation and treatment format

HairLuma comes with ten individual 5 mL treatment vials and one 15 mL Exosome Nurturing Solution. Each 5 mL vial is ready to use, and I applied the separate nurturing product after completing each section.

Hanheal Hair Fill is a two-part system with five matched treatments per box. Each pair contains a 5 mL liquid ampoule and a 100 mg dry ampoule that must be combined before use. I like the freshly mixed format, but it adds a preparation step.

Formula story

The clearest overlap is copper tripeptide-1: both systems list it. Hanheal identifies a detailed peptide and polypeptide complex and describes its dry component as containing fibroblast-associated exosome material with sodium hyaluronate. HairLuma describes a broader nutrient-style formula with plant-derived exosomes, PDRN, amino peptides, biotin, panthenol, enzymes, and a separate nurturing solution.

Those are manufacturer descriptions, not proof of hair regrowth. The word exosome alone cannot tell me which product is more effective. Source, isolation, concentration, storage, and the quality of the finished formula all matter, and the available materials do not let me compare the two peptide systems molecule for molecule.

What the Research Can—and Cannot—Tell Us

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis found that microneedling combined with minoxidil improved hair-count outcomes, and in some analyses hair diameter, compared with minoxidil alone. That research did not test HairLuma or Hanheal Hair Fill, so its findings cannot be transferred directly to either branded product.

My Treatment Experience

HairLuma was the more convenient system for me. I could open one ready-to-use vial, portion it across my scalp sections, and finish each area with the nurturing solution. Hanheal needed time for the liquid and dry components to combine completely and felt slightly thicker, but it was still easy for me to work into the scalp.

Both products performed similarly during my personal microneedling sessions. I did not experience stinging or irritation from either formula. My scalp looked red and felt sensitive immediately after treatment, which is consistent with what I have documented after scalp microneedling. My personal choice was to wait 48 hours before washing; that is a record of what I did, not proof that this timing improves absorption or results.

When I compare the footage, my scalp, crown, hairline, and overall density look drastically improved to me. I do not credit that change to HairLuma alone. My natural recovery had already begun, Hanheal was already part of my history, and I continued using other tools including high frequency and LED.

Price per Treatment

At the prices shown when I filmed, HairLuma was $125 for ten treatment vials, or approximately $12.50 per vial. Hanheal was $120 for five matched treatment pairs, or approximately $24 per treatment. Prices and promotions can change, so check the vendor page before purchasing.

Which One Would I Choose?

My honest answer is that I enjoy using both, for different reasons. Hanheal has my preferred formula story because of its fibroblast-associated exosome description and more detailed peptide disclosure. HairLuma wins for convenience, its separate nurturing step, twice as many treatment vials per box, and a lower documented cost per treatment.

I cannot tell you which product helped my hair grow back better. The larger lesson is that recovery from a major shed did not happen in one vial or one session. It took time, consistent documentation, and a routine I was willing to repeat.
